Eggs with 7th Graders

Written by White Oak Student Blogger Lexi

Do you know why purple flowers make white flowers? It’s because two of the purple flowers have a little bit of white in them. That is called genes. Lanier Middle School 7th graders came and taught White Oak 2nd graders about genetics and the genetics of 2nd grade's chicken eggs. You can use Punnett Squares to find out what someone or something is going to be. Punnett Squares are used to predict genes. Genes are the traits that are passed in your family and the chicken eggs' families. Sometimes scientists change genes to make vegetables and fruits grow faster. Those are GMO or genetically modified organisms. GMOs have been through scientist labs. We enjoyed our genetic learning from the 7th grade students!
