Virtual Field Trips with Google Expeditions!

Google Expeditions Pioneer Program visited White Oak Elementary School on Friday. The oohs and ahhs echoed down the hallways as students delighted in this visual experience!

Expeditions is a new Google product that allows teachers and students to travel around the world and under the sea on a virtual fieldtrip. These trips incorporate virtual reality panoramas, 360° photo spheres. While nothing replaces leaving campus and heading off for a field trip, Expeditions allows students to travel to the moon, swim with a sea turtle, and visit Mt. Rushmore, all without leaving the building.

To head off on an Expedition, Google sends a school a box with everything needed for travel: a table for each teacher, and special cardboard viewers and phones for every student. The teacher selects a destination, and the entire classroom is instantly transported.
