Dramatic Art at White Oak

Second grade was excited to work their acting skills with a Native American Indian legend, The Dancing Drum. Students read the legend written by Terri Cohlene and explored inquiry with the following question,

“How can we take a book and identify Dramatic Arts elements (like character, setting, props and script writing) to create a play?”

Each student was able to have a part and share their learning about the traditions and folk tales of the Cherokee Indians. It was a wonderful experience and WOES students showed their skills with drama in an authentic way!
