Meet our Maker Space

Check out White Oak's Maker Space. This space in our Media Center allows children to learn through tinkering, playing, inventing, and creating. This month's Maker Space features origami, allowing students hands-on construction and creativity opportunities.

In November, students engineered their own designs with Lego construction. Students enjoyed the freedom to create and the opportunity to display their structions.

October featured Bee Bot robots. These bee shaped robots are designed for young children as an entry into programming. Through experimenting with Bee Bots, children create a set of steps for the Bee Bot to take. Specialzed mats can be used for students. Students design a program by using the arrow and turn keys. Then it's time to test the program by hitting the GO button!

Each month White Oak's Maker Space features a new challenge. Watch for a Maker Space update. We are expanding to allow for more hands-on learning for our students!
